The ride
Boring and long. It's a dual carriageway all the way with a wide hard-shoulder and moderate traffic, but it's open and exposed with not much to see. There were fewer shelters and food and drink stalls than on previous days, but enough to get by. The smaller roads via Phichit may be a better option.Phitsanulok has several guesthouses and many cafés and bars, especially along the river at the night market which is quite buzzing. There are attractions in town to visit but the ruins and monument across the river are not worth seeing.
