The ride
We followed Ronny's advice. Attractive rural scenery but the road was tediously straight and flat. There were some food and drink stalls along the way. It makes more sense to turn right onto the 1048 which goes past the historic park on the way to Si Satchanalai, otherwise it's a 25km round-trip from town. Bikes are ideal for exploring the park. There is a resort south of town and bungalows/camping at the park. We asked at the police station and got a lift in their pick-up to a guesthouse. Si Satchanalai is not a wildly exciting place. There are a couple of restaurants and some street stalls near the 7/11 for breakfast.The room

Very basic. Run by an old man who vanished after we checked in. Had to buy a padlock for the room door. A menagerie of animals in cages out front.
