The journey
Good sealed roads with a wide hard shoulder and not too much traffic, but the ride was a bit boring. It was four lanes to Sakeo then two lanes afterwards, but in the process of being widened. The road was open and basically flat with some very very gentle undulations. There was a light/moderate south-westerly wind all day which was unhelpful. Roadside cafes were plentiful. There were stretches of empty countryside, especially after Sakeo, but there were enough places to eat and drink. Regular bus shelters for resting in the shade. Saw 2 racing cyclists between Aranyaprathet and Sakeo. Resort, hotel and a good bike shop (on the main road) in Sakeo. There was also a good bike shop in Kabinburi (at the west end of the main high street).Kabinburi International hotel on the way into Kabinburi looked very grotty. There were no English signs for hotels in town. The station has a tourist map with 2 hotels marked near the station; we stayed at the first one we found.
