The journey
It's much easier getting out of Danang than getting in. It was raining first thing in the morning but by 10.30am after we'd visited the Cham museum it had stopped. We cycled over the bridge and straight on towards the beach, then turned right to the south and followed that road all the way till Hoi An was signed. There was a fairly strong northerly. The road was good - it's recently been widened to four lanes - and traffic was quiet. We missed the Marble Mountains because we didn't see any marble carvers. It was flat as a pancake.Hoi An is a gorgeous old town, similar to Luang Prabang in many respects but with hundreds of tailors and shoe-makers instead of monks. It's worth spending a few days here to soak up the atmosphere and have some clothes made (you can post them back home).
