Return of the cheese
Mat: After my last
disappointing adventure in cheese, I pretty much lost all my enthusiasm for making cheese. But today Kat and I cooked up a great batch of cottage cheese, so I'm all excited by it again. I've found a
company in Somerset who run beginners courses and sell cheese-related supplies, and now that Kat's interested we'll probably be following recipes a lot more closely, and paying more attention to things like hygiene :) Watch this space.
In other food news, we're awaiting delivery of our shiny
new homebrew kit from eBay, so we can get started on beer making and poison the remaining friends who won't eat our dairy concoctions...

Claire and John's wedding
Mat: We've just got back from the Ustonbury festival, aka our friends Claire and John's wedding. It was a three day extravaganza with a boat party on the Friday, the wedding party on the Saturday and a general chillout on the Sunday. The main event was held on the shore of Windemere in the Lake District, with two music stages and 250 guests in fancy dress! It was the most impressive wedding I've ever been to, and has certainly set the standard for future events :) Ten of us stayed at a really nice cottage on the west side of the lake and had a great time, which has inspired us to rent a cottage for a future get together, maybe over new year. The only downside to the whole weekend was the mammoth journey home - we left at 10am and arrived home at 7pm. Congratulations Claire and John, it was worth the drive!
