An SPC recipe - it's worth loitering in the kitchen while they're cooking so you can eat them warm with ice-cream! Otherwise they definitely need a cup of tea for dunking.
½ cup butter
1½ cups sugar
1 egg, beaten
1tbsp golden syrup
2 cups flour
1tsp bicarbonate of soda
3tsp ground ginger
Cream the butter and sugar together then beat in the egg and syrup. Add the dried ingredients and combine. Roll heaped teaspoons of the mixture into balls and place on a lined baking tray. Don't flatten them! Bake at 340°F for 30 minutes.
